Carrier Pre-Select service is a United Kingdom product and is only available on BT lines
With the deregulation of the UK telecommunication sector, the UK telecom monopoly held by BT was deregulated such that other service providers would be able to provide BT equivalent services.
What is CPS?
Carrier Pre-Select allows a caller on a BT line to seamlessly use services on the IDN network. The caller simply picks up the handset and dials the required national or international number.
The call is forwarded to IDN network through BT network and IDN are then responsible for completion of all National and International calls.
The CPS service offers the end-user a way of replacing current BT service with an alternative reseller service that offers cheaper local and international calls.
How does the CPS work?
To provide the UK CPS service, IDN has established direct interconnect with BT switches and has direct access to BT POP at several locations in UK.
- Where is CPS services available? CPS is a United Kingdom product and is only available in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Island on BT lines. IDN have developed shared
partition CPS services in order to allow resellers in UK to offer CPS services to BT line users.

International Call charges.

to their end user using the BT network.
- What does the Client need to do to activate the service? The Client shouldn't need to do anything at all to activate the service unless they have a dialer (smart) box plugged
in to their phone(s). If they do have a dialer (smart) box they will need to unplug this so that CPS can work.
- What if the Client change their address? If Client change their address and wish to keep CPS number with the reseller, client will need to contact reseller and request that
CPS is set up at your new address. This will be done as a new application.
- What if the Client change their number? If the client change their phone number but not their address, the reseller will need to register the new number against client account.
The Client will need to contact the reseller to request that CPS is transferred to new number.
