What is the CPS Service?
Carrier Pre-Select service is a United Kingdom product and is only available on BT lines. With the deregulation of the UK telecommunication sector, the UK telecom monopoly held by BT was deregulated such that other service providers would be able to provide BT equivalent services.
How does the CPS work & why would end-users or resellers use or offer CPS?
With Carrier Pre-Select service clients will simply sign up for the service and after a short order processing period their chosen calls will be automatically routed over IDN network.
The caller simply picks up the handset and dials the required national or international number. The call is forwarded to IDN network through BT exchange and IDN are then responsible for completion of all calls.
The CPS service offers the end-user a way of replacing current BT service with an alternative reseller service that offers cheaper local and international calls.
